About
I've spent my life at the intersection of culture, ethics, and technology. I've decided to share my thoughts and essays in hopes that by tying these things together, we can learn to practice the things that make our neighborhoods thrive.
I started out as a history teacher and theologian. I spent nearly a decade at a Catholic high school in Detroit, part of the founding team, teaching and building its technology infrastructure from the ground up. That combination — the humanities and the machines — turned out to be a pretty good preparation for the world we're living in now.
These days I lead engineering teams at Rocket, helping build the technology that empowers homeownership. I earned a Master of Science in Applied Artificial Intelligence at the University of San Diego and try to think about AI in the context of our communities a lot.
I serve on the Board of Trustees of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. I co-founded Prideraiser, a platform that channels the energy of soccer supporter culture into fundraising for LGBTQ+ organizations — we crossed a million dollars raised in 2024, which still blows my mind.
The newsletter is called Blueprints for the Modern Internet because I believe the internet, at its best, was supposed to be a neighborhood — a gathering place for curious, generous people — and I think we can still build something worth living in, online and offline.
Everything you read here is written by me.
Love Wins.
